Joe Masek is an artist of myriad skills ranging from pen and ink, to painting, to his true love – steel sculpture. His back story is one of chaos and confusion from day one, literally in constant singular movement since birth, yet no complaints and only gratitude. Art was his first voice and confidant beginning with pen and ink at age 12, graced with and cultivated by many mentors who encouraged his pursuits in art, philosophy, psychology and faith. Autodidact by nature, yet always under a mentor to guide his path. He graduated Indiana University 2011 with a degree in Art Therapy, turning his thesis project into a charity for 2 non-profits relating to the challenges he has faced. As an artist, he never sets out to convey or express any particular concept idea, has found that the pieces speak the intention to him upon completion. For him this is life, to never fully know and to always learn. His personal mantra is “If you ain’t bleedin’, it ain’t art”, denoting his passion and devotion for the hard-earned path in art and life.
